The couple used their surfboards to personally help their neighbors, who are trapped in their homes due to the heavy flood. "This morning, paglabas namin, baha na. Usually kapag baha dito kasi, ganyan talaga," he shared in an interview with ABS-CBN. "Sometimes, walang boats or flotation devices so naglabas kami ni Kim ng surfboard."
He added, "Okay naman ['yung mga napuntahan namin], safe naman sila. Thank God. May mga iba lang na hindi [mapuntahan] nung rescue teams kasi malakas na 'yung agos and wala pang boats so naghihintay sila."
Jericho also shared that the current typhoon seemed to be worse than Typhoon Ondoy. "[Since] hindi natin nalaman na tataas ng ganito, mas malala ito para sa 'kin. Kasi parang pag gising ng mga tao, napuyat sila kagabi, tapos pag gising nila ganyan na. Madaming tao na hindi naka alert."
This isn't the first time, though, that the avid surfer went out of his way to help stranded individuals. Back in 2009 when the country was badly hit by Typhoon Ondoy, the actor also used his surfboard to rescue a boy, a grandma, and even a dog.
