The Philippines' representative to the 2019 Miss Universe competition, Gazini Ganados, is currently in the US for the pageant's preliminary events! Before she left the Philippines on November 26, Gazini told ABS-CBN that she might ask for an interpreter for the pageant's Q&A portion.
The beauty queen shared: "I will think about it. Kasi I would like to showcase the Bisaya language in an international arena. Of course, I'm a proud Bisaya myself...But then again, I have to reconsider because not all people can understand that language. So, I will reconsider that po."
In a previous interview, Gloria Diaz—who was crowned Miss Universe in 1969—-revealed that she thinks an interpreter is super helpful for beauty pageant contestants. "If that's what will make them comfortable...And, you know, when you have an interpreter, you have one minute to breathe. So...that's a plus."
The Miss Universe 2019 coronation night will take place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be aired live on ABS-CBN on December 9, at 8 a.m.
