Actor Diether Ocampo knows what it feels like to go hungry. In a report from PEP.ph, he relays the story of how, as a young child, he would go to relatives' homes to ask for food to feed his family. “It came to a point, may dala akong kaldero tapos pupunta ako sa bahay ng lola ko o kaya sa tita ko para humingi ng ulam at kanin,” he told the media. “I was probably eight or nine years old.” This experience has stuck with Diether all these years. That's why his 10-year involvement with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) counts for more than just getting word out about the campaign--for him, it's personal.

This Christmas, Diether, along with Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, is helping the WFP with the fourth annual World Hunger Campaign through its Christmas postcards for charity program. For a small donation of P40, customers who dine at Pizza Hut or Taco Bell get a postcard autographed by Diether. All proceeds go to WFP’s Emergency School Feeding programme, which aims to provide nourishing meals in school to kids affected by the war in Mindanao.
