Derek Ramsay still says that his past relationship with his ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban remains important to him despite Angelica’s revelation that they broke up because she got tired of putting up with him.

“You know what, six years kaming nagsama (You know what, we were together for six years),” he was quoted by as saying in an interview aired on the November 17 episode of the TV5 show Ang Latest: Updated. “I look back on those six years, I don't regret and I enjoyed. So, guys, please let's give that relationship that much respect.”

“You don't have to like me, but 'yung pinagsamahan namin, sana irespeto niyo naman 'yun (You don't have to like me, but I hope you would respect what we had together),” he continued. “Six years is no joke. There's a lot of hard work, lot of happiness, lot of tears, but we have to draw the line [on] how much we give to everybody. I just wanna respect the relationship. It deserves that.”

Derek also admitted that it gets hard for him to deal with haters sometimes as some of their attacks have become very hurtful, but that he still respects their opinion of him.

“It’s hard sometimes, merong haters [na] medyo bastos na magbigay ng opinyon. Hindi na nga opinyon, atake na, e (It's hard, sometimes, because there are haters who voice out their opinions in a rude manner. It's not even an opinion anymore, but an attack.). But there is no way you can make everybody like you,” he said. “Respeto lang ang puwede mong ibigay at 'yung tunay mong pagkatao, that's it... I’m emotional, but at the same time, kailangan mo munang mag-isip bago ka magbitaw ng salita. I made many mistakes in my life. The important thing is matuto ka sa mga mistakes na ginawa mo (You can only give them your respect and your true character, that's it... I'm emotional, but at the same time, you have to think first before you say anything. I made many mistakes in my life. The important thing is that you learn from the mistakes you have committed.).”
