British actor Daniel Radcliffe, known for his starring role in the Harry Potter movie series, said in an interview for Heat Magazine that he used to arrive on set drunk, Reuters.com reports.

"I have a very addictive personality," the 22-year-old explained. "It was a problem. People with problems like that are very adept at hiding it. It was bad. I don't want to go into details, but I drank a lot and it was daily--I mean nightly."

Daniel played boy wizard Harry Potter in eight movies adapted from J.K. Rowling's famous book series. "I can honestly say I never drank at work on Harry Potter. I went into work still drunk, but I never drank at work. I can point to many scenes where I'm just gone. Dead behind the eyes."

The Daily Mail revealed that, in a past interview with ShortList Magazine, Daniel said he was often so drunk that he would black out. "The drinking was unhealthy and damaging to my body and my social life. That’s beyond question," he is quoted as saying. "I was living in constant fear of who I’d meet, what I might have said to them, what I might have done with them, so I’d stay in my apartment for days and drink alone."

Daniel gave up drinking in August 2010, reports The Daily Mail. He is currently in the US promoting The Woman in Black, his first film after the Harry Potter series.
