[UPDATED as of April 3]: Angel Locsin is always ready to personally extend a helping hand to people in need.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the actress, together with her fiancé Neil Arce and wedding coordinator La Belle Fete, has set up air-conditioned sleeping tents for health workers in Taguig City.

On Friday, March 20, Angel asked her followers and industry friends on Instagram if they have any spare foldable bed or bedding that they could donate. She wrote, "[We] understand that life is hard right now, so we’ll refrain from asking you for financial donations. Instead, we would like to ask you for stuff that you already have.

"We, with the assistance and recommendation of the local government, are setting up sleeping tents within hospital premises for our health workers in the frontlines so they don’t have to worry about where to stay & transportation."

Angelica Panganiban, Anne Curtis-Heussaff, Paulo Avelino, and Bea Alonzo are some of Angel's friends who have donated their taping beds.

The project turned out to be a success! Take a peek inside the mobile sleeping quarters:

To practice strict social distancing, only five people are allowed to stay in each tent.

A few days after setting up the tents in Taguig, Angel has launched #UniTENTweStandPH, a fund-raising "campaign to help solve overcrowding in hospitals" so they can set up more tents in other parts of Luzon not only for health workers but also for COVID-19 patients.

On Instagram, she wrote, "To help stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and due to the overcrowding in public and private hospitals, we are launching a fund-raising campaign here in gogetfunding.com to help set up additional tents for patients. The objective is to accommodate more patients who need immediate treatments while also prioritizing the safety of our health workers.

"Each tent would cost around P50,000 as per our experience when we set up tents at the Taguig Pateros District Hospital. If this campaign will be a success, we are hoping to reach other hospitals in Luzon and eventually in other parts of the country."

Fortunately, Angel and her team was able to raise over three million pesos for the tents. A total of 22 tents has already been donated to 11 hospitals, and they hope to reach 38 more hospitals

On top of that, they were able to donate this sanitation tent with a misting machine and UV light for COVID-19 frontliners in Philippine General Hospital.

As reported by PEP.ph, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has expressed his gratitude to the actress-humanitarian activist and her fiancé after receiving two tents for Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center in Tondo, Manila.

"Maraming salamat sa iyo, Angel Locsin at patuloy ka sanang magtagumpay sa iyong karera

"Mabasa ka sana ng ulannang dumami ka pa," said the mayor during a live stream interview last March 31.

The actress helps earthquake victims in Davao City

This isn't the first time the actress made rounds online for actively been helping others out. Last November 2019, Angel flew to Davao City, a day after it was hit by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake, destroying buildings and roads.

Dressed in a white-and-black top and a black cap, the actress, who famously played the iconic Filipino superhero "Darna", was spotted by many netizens buying sacks of relief goods at a grocery store in Davao City, with many calling her a "real-life Darna."

According to Sun Star Davao, the grocery items will be donated to the victims of the earthquake.

Last December 2019, Angel was hailed as one of Forbes Asia's 'Heroes of Philanthropy', which honors individuals "committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific."
