There have been rumors that Jessy Mendiola will snag the lead role for Filipina heroine, Darna, but it was recently confirmed by Star Cinema that they will be sticking with Angel Locsin for the upcoming movie.
It was last year when the 31-year old actress withdrew from the film project because of a disc bulge in her spinal cord, which was caused by doing her own stunts in her 2008 movie, Love Me Again.

Now, Star Cinema head, Malou Santos has confirmed that there will be no actress to play the part except Angel Locsin. Aside from Jessy Mendiola, Nadine Lustre and Liza Soberano were also candidates for the role.
