phil_angel_tuna.jpgThe Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) took down Angel Locsin and Phil Younghusband's Century Tuna billboard along Boni-EDSA on July 11, PEP.ph reports. MMDA also ordered the removal of one of Anne Curtis's billboards in a statement issued on the same day, says SPOT.ph. According to the statement, the billboards contained offensive content, as the tarps showed both actresses in bras. They also allegedly violated the National Building Code, which means they were put up illegally.

Angel and Anne rebuffed MMDA on their Twitter accounts. Angel Tweeted Anne a photo of a newspaper article about their billboards and said, "Kelan tayo nagka-ad na naka-bra lang, anita? (When did we have ads in just our bras?)"  Her ad with Phil featured her in a one-piece bathing suit.

Meanwhile, Anne Tweeted that she's never had a billboard where she's wearing a bra, although she's posed in bikinis before. "Pero walang billboard now as they have claimed na pwede tanggalin ngayon (But right now, I don't even have any billboards that they can take down, which they claim they've done)," she clarified, as quoted on PEP.ph. "The only billboard I have along Boni-Edsa is SMDC yata at naka-GOWN ako dun (and I'm wearing a gown there)!" As of press time, Anne also says all her billboards along EDSA are still intact.

Angel later sent a Tweet to MMDA saying, "If you think offensive our BBs (billboards) na in a DECENT bathing suit and gown po, fine. Don't use our names na lang to promote whatever you are doing."

MMDA's crackdown on offensive and illegal billboards comes at the heels of the Philippine Volcanoes' Bench underwear billboards being removed last week after Mayor Benhur Abalos of Mandaluyong City requested that they be taken down.
