Zei and Rich decided to mark their day with the word that said it all: Love. The couple made this heartwarming word the focus of their wedding, and with a theme that incorporated shades of yellow and gray, the couple's a affair turned out to chic and classy.

Zei and Rich's story began right in the heart and soul of the University of the Philippines Diliman--the UP Parish of the Holy Sacrifice. They were brought together by UP In-Christ Thrust for University Students (UP ICTUS), a socio-civic religious organization, where they met and grew together in love, faith, and prayer.
They weren't exactly the same--Zei loved the spoken and written word while Rich was a man of a few words; he was good in the sciences and she thrived in the arts; she was a dancer and he was a self-confessed guy with two left feet; he worked at night and she was on a normal shift. But despite all their differences, every time they were together, Zei and Rich laughed, prayed, hoped, and dreamed about the same things. Every whispered "I love you," every hug and held hand, every love letter and one-of-a-kind anniversary gift, every silent prayer, every Sunday mass, and every gentle kiss made their love feel constantly new.
And so on January 31, 2009, Rich decided to ask Zei to marry him through a grand gesture in an ice skating rink. He schemed with Zei's friends and the staff of the ice skating rink to give Zei the sweetest surprise of her life. After skating a few rounds with Zei, Rich begged off to take a break. Zei continued skating with her friend while Rich came out of the rink and signaled the nearby flower shop's attendant to deliver the flowers he had ordered for Zei.
A group of young skaters then started dancing around Zei as the rest of their friends started cheering around them. Rich then entered the rink again, with the bouquet of flowers and a ring in tow. When he came near Zei, he knelt on one knee and popped the questions as their friends and other onlookers cheered them on. Zei replied with a sweet yes and made the ice skating rink warm with love.
Zei and Rich's yellow and gray affair was filled with love--literally. From a 6x6-foot sculpture featuring the word "Love" (which was similar to a popular New York attraction), to frames, tags, and cake toppers, all were marked with the word that brought Zei and Rich together. Different translations of the word love, like amore, ai, cinta, sayang, and agape-among many others-also spread love around the reception as the couple used these as table markers.
To show how grateful Zei and Rich were to the people who shared their special day with them, they treated their guests to good food and music. On the reception tables were chips in yellow packages from Jack n' Jill (manufactured by the company where Zei works). To provide the soundtrack to their love-filled night, the couple hired a band that sang all their favorite love songs. They also showed a video presentation that ended with a touching message of gratitude: "Because of all of you, our life is filled with so much love."
Having each other and all the people around them on such a momentous day, Zei and Rich felt blessed with love that was so much bigger than the 6x6-foot structure at their wedding.
