Love Story

"I can't really say when our love story began. There was no blind date, and it wasn't love at first sight either," shares Tara. The two worked in the same company, but didn't really know each other personally until they were introduced by a colleague at a Christmas bazaar back in 2004. "Both of us didn't expect to see each other there, but eventually we surprised ourselves in a good way, and we shared an interesting conversation," Tara says. Come Christmas Eve that year, Tara got an unexpected text message from Donnell, and the SMS marked the beginning of their fruitful relationship.

Four years into the relationship, Donnell then decided to pop the question to Tara. Back then, Tara just found out that her father was diagnosed with cancer--and so as in love as Tara and Donnell were with each other, they decided to wait for the right time for their wedding. The right time finally cam in 2010. The couple got their parents' blessings and walked down the aisle in May.

Wedding Preparations

Tara and Donnell marked the end of their two-year engagement with an intimate wedding in Cebu. With their closest families and friends as witnesses, the couple shared their love on their wedding day by showcasing well-thought out details that they worked hard for.

The hands-on couple made sure that their Old Hollywood glam theme was consistently carried out throughout the ceremony and reception. Tara and Donnell even took on a handful of DIY projects to personalize their dream wedding.

Aside from incorporating luxe details into their wedding, the couple also prepared a program that complemented their chosen theme.  At the reception, the couple pushed the envelope by featuring grand production numbers reminiscent of Old Hollywood. The groom and his entourage entered the venue to the tune of Dick Tracy's theme song, while the bride made her way in with the song Hey Big Spender playing in the background. The rest of the night was also marked with classic Hollywood soundtracks and games that revolved around the theme.

While the couple poured much time and love into their wedding, the bride asserts that there are things more important than getting the details right. She says, "In the end, it's about the two of you. It's not just a day, but it's a lifetime of marriage that is being celebrated. There's no such thing as a perfect wedding, and even if things don't all turn out as planned, what really matters is you are united as man and wife, and that all your loved ones are there to witness that beautiful moment."
