Love Story
Rashi and Abu didn't exactly think they would end up together. Their paths first crossed in a hospital, where Rashi then was a student intern while Abu was a resident nurse. An old lady from the hospital kept telling the two of them that they were perfect for each other, but they both shrugged it off as Rashi was in a relationship back then. Intrigued by the old lady's constant prodding, they caught a glimpse of each other and found each other attractive.
When Rashi's relationship back then crumbled, she began to seek refuge in Abu's company. In no time, romantic feelings developed between Rashi and Abu. Things didn't go smoothly at first, as both their past relationships started interfering with their blossoming connection. Eventually, they were able to iron things out and chose to be together. Despite having to spend two years apart in their relationship--Abu was assigned to work abroad--they still managed to stick together. When Abu came back, he took the cherished chance to pop the question to Rashi. She, of course, said yes.

Wedding Preparations
Rashi and Abu tied the knot with a traditional Muslim wedding, which was followed by civil wedding rites. In a Muslim wedding, the Imam (Muslim priest) and bride's father give their blessing and permission for the groom to marry the bride. After being given consent, the groom then searches for the bride, offers gifts to her family, and finally seals the marriage with the bride with a hug or kiss. After having their religious ceremony, Rashi and Abu marched to their civil wedding. "Our recessional as a couple [for the Muslim rites was] as our processional for the civil wedding ceremony," shares Rashi.
After the civil wedding rites, the couple then had a fun-filled reception with their loved ones. It was raining non-stop a few days prior to the wedding, and so the couple and their caterer decided to move their supposed garden reception to a tented venue. A warm and whimsical ambiance marked their affair, as they worked with a charming A Midsummer Night's Dream theme. DIY details also laced their event, which complemented the heartwarming celebration.
