After three years of dating, Nina and Angelo tied the knot at Santuario de San Antonio in Makati. The romantic affair had an English country theme, which was laced with pretty details in warm summery hues.

Love Story

Nina and Angelo first met at a retreat sponsored by their church group. "After the recollection, there was a graduation party, and we were both there to celebrate with our church group. He asked me to dance with him, and I said no. I thought he seemed like the bad boy type, the type I wanted to avoid; and he thought I was suplada and mataray, the type he could never get along with," shares Nina.

The two met again at another gathering where they got to sit down and talk to one another. It was there that they realized that they share the same interests. Nina and Angelo eventually became a couple the following year.

Three years later, after hearing mass, Nina and Angelo decided to have dinner. Narrates Nina, "We went to Sofitel Philippine Plaza, and I was surprised because the staff was giving us special treatment--from being received at the lobby, to being accompanied to a private lounge for some drinks, and being ushered to the restaurant. I asked him about this, and he said he knows the new manager and was guaranteed special treatment for the night. After eating, he asked me, 'You still have room for dessert?' A small fondant cake was brought to our table. He then said, 'Let's eat the garnishes first, sayang naman kasi it's such a pretty cake.' He gave me the chocolate heart garnish, and I broke it open, and an engagement ring fell on my plate."

Wedding Preparations

Nina and Angelo's special day was made even more special because they got to share it with their closest friends and family. In preparation for the wedding, the couple designed several unique pieces, which reflected their English country theme. Moreover, they also prepared and packed their souvenirs and invitations by themselves.

During the program, the couple surprised one another by exchanging wedding gifts. Nina invited the lead vocalist of Side A to sing the song for their first dance. Angelo, on the other hand, compiled video greetings from Nina's friends and family abroad.

The wedding, all in all, was nothing less than spectacular. Nina shares, "I wish I knew that I couldn't have everything I wanted, and that preparing for a wedding really is time-consuming. The one tip I'd like to share to brides is this: Pick a theme and stick to it. Not every beautiful idea you see on the Internet is going to match the theme you choose. Once you see something on the Internet, go back to your theme, and think of a way to incorporate it to your wedding. If it doesn't fit, then just let it go."
