Their Love Story

Michelle and Mark's love story is one beautiful tale, quite literally, as they met while working at cosmetics group L'Oreal Philippines Inc. Their officemates played cupid to bring them together, as their first date was planned to be a group movie outing, but Michelle and Mark were surprised when it turned out to be a double date with another couple. The matchmaking ploy worked, and the two became inseparable from then on.

On their fifth anniversary, the couple went to Shangri-La Mactan Resort to celebrate. That night, Mark arranged a special dinner for two at the hotel restaurant. He booked a lone table at the end of a pier overlooking the ocean. At first, Michelle thought that their romantic meal simply marked the celebration of their five years together. But after the main course, a guitarist came over and accompanied Mark in serenading Michelle. After his song, Mark got down on one knee and popped the question, making their already perfect night even more amazing. Michelle, of course, said yes.

The Preparations

Michelle and Mark's laid-back wedding at the beach proved to be a beautiful affair, as it featured details by the couple and their friends.

Almost every detail in Michelle and Mark's event was a DIY project. The couple and their friends sourced most of their wedding needs and managed all the necessary wedding preparations, from announcing the wedding to crafting the souvenirs.

Michelle and Mark's reception also turned out to be memorable because of the program. Months before the wedding, the couple asked their guests to form teams, and each team was tasked to create audio-visual presentations or perform live at the reception. The teams competed with each other as guests came up with various entertaining numbers, and Mark capped off the program by singing a song he wrote whose lyrics mirrored his vows during the ceremony.

In the end, the personal touches that the couple added to their wedding made for a meaningful and memorable affair.
