Mariel and Alvin were both former employees of Summit Media. They never really talked to each other until they both availed of a gym discount rate for the company employees. While working out, they struck up a conversation and exchanged numbers--and after three weeks, they became an official couple.
On Mariel and Alvin's third year together, Mariel moved to New York. While they were able to adjust to a long-distance relationship, Mariel admits that it was tough for both of them to get used to the set-up.
After 11 months, Alvin went to visit Mariel in New York. One Sunday, during Alvin's visit, the couple attended mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. After receiving communion, Alvin quietly got Mariel's right hand and tried slipping the ring on her finger. Amused, Mariel told him that it was the wrong hand, so Alvin got her left hand and slipped the ring on. After this, Mariel shares, "That's when I started crying. We lingered in church after mass, taking pictures. And that was it: quiet, simple, and precious. Now, every time I walk by St. Patrick's or hear mass there, I am reminded of the memory."
Mariel and Alvin's wedding was fresh, vibrant, and breathtaking as their motif played with the colors of the ocean and happy summer florals. Even if the couple invited only a few guests to witness their union in Cebu, the wedding was not any less lively and memorable.
The guests were all garbed in colorful attire, and so the couple kept the décor simple by focusing on foliage and aquatic accents. Lanterns in different shades of blue were lit under the serene night sky, creating a dreamy canopy.
Amidst all the bright and bold details, however, it was Mariel and Alvin's love for each other that made their wedding special and radiant.
