Three years later, Maan and Jess’ paths crossed again. During this time, both their relationships were rocky, and they just needed someone to talk to in order to clear their minds. Maan shares, "We got together with our friends to get over our heartaches. Half a year later, we didn’t even realize that often, it was just the two of us going out. Before the year ended, he formalized courting me."

A year later, the couple found themselves in Boracay, where they arranged to have a romantic dinner despite the stormy weather. Maan shares, "Once dinner was finished, he asked if I wanted to go to the beach. Of course, I declined since it was kind of scary to be near the beach at that time. He didn’t give up and asked me to go up to the penthouse by the pool, and again, I refused and told him we might get struck by lightning." Even though his efforts seemed futile, Jess was able to convince Maan to watch a video as they stayed indoors.

The video was an audio visual presentation of their pictures old and recent pictures as a couple. At the end of the presentation, when the line "Will you marry me" flashed on the screen, Maan broke in joyful sobs. Although in tears, she was able to say "yes," and their wedding preparations began.

Wedding Preparations

A sea of coral and peridot added warmth to Maan and Jess' romantic celebration of love and life. Travel-related pieces, such as suitcases, maps, and sign posts gave a quirky twist to their laid-back festivity. Quaint items such as old lamps, chandeliers, and pots, added a rustic charm and a relaxing vibe to the wedding.

The couple added their personal touch to the celebration by being hands-on with the details of the wedding. They handpicked some of the decor used in the ceremony and reception such as candles, suitcases, and the travel book. In addition, by keeping close communication with their suppliers, they were able to incorporate their own preference to the styling of the reception venue.

According to the bride, having good relations with their suppliers paved the way for a successful celebration. She adds, "Brides and grooms to be should enjoy the preparation stage. It’s a once-in–a-lifetime event, and we really had fun preparing for our wedding that we actually missed doing it right after."
