Kate and Ernan met in school, but they didn't immediately see each other in a romantic way. Four years later, their friendship took a different turn when they started going out--and things took off from there.
On a vacation to Ayuthaya in Thailand, Erman decided to take their relationship to the next level. At one of the temples they visited, he finally popped the question to Kate with a simple proposal. "[It was] nothing fancy, no balloons [or anything]--just us," shares Kate.
Kate and Ernan tied the knot with a destination wedding at Hacienda Isabella in Casaruchi, Cavite. Their closest family and friends gathered for a casual, and fun celebration.
The couple decided to omit some wedding traditions so that guests could relax more. The intimate wedding exuded warmth, but Kate made the affair even more charming by being very hands-on with planning the big day. "I made the ring holder, invitations and table décor," the bride shares. Moreover, her mom also arranged the bouquets for the bride and her entourage.
There were some hitches on the couple's wedding day, but Kate and Ernan didn't let the stress get to them. Instead, they found the beauty in the unexpected situations. Shares Kate, "We planned a garden reception but it drizzled in the morning, so we had to move the reception indoors. In the end it was a blessing because it made our event feel more intimate. We also had a double rainbow! It was my first time to see a double rainbow in the sky--and at my wedding too." She tells other couples, "Do not panic. Even though there might be some minor setbacks, things will still fall into place. One of our cakes was damaged on the way up to Tagaytay, but it was okay. We had that cake for breakfast the next day."
