Love StoryKate and Arnold met in high school when they became classmates in advance trigonometry. Arnold shares, "At first, I was not even aware that we were already acquainted, until I called her to ask about our homework. From there, our relationship changed from acquaintances to friends." The couple's friendship blossomed to a 14-year relationship that withstood the test of time.
The couple would talk about of settling down, but they didn’t have definite plans yet. However, after the results of the bar came out, Arnold knew that it was time for him to seal the deal and propose to Kate. He coordinated with her office mates to set up a pseudo client meeting at Tagaytay, where he would surprise her with flowers and a ring.
When Kate got to the venue, she saw Arnold alone on a chair with a bouquet of flowers. Tears ran down her face for she already knew what's going to happen next. Kate shares, "He then asked me, 'Kailangan ko pa bang lumuhod? Ang daming tao e.' I shook my head gently in between sobs, then came the question, 'Will you marry me?'" It took Kate a while to reply, but when she said yes, he immediately hugged her, and their preparations for the wedding began.
Wedding PreparationsKate and Arnold had a romantic rustic-country themed garden wedding in Tagaytay. Beautiful flowers and quaint decor in aubergine and gold gave a lovely summer feel to the occasion. Quirky decor such as lamps, bottles, and vases also added a laid-back and romantic ambiance.
To cut down on costs and to add their personal touch to the celebration, the couple personalized some of their wedding details. The bride created the invitations, missalettes, and the thank-you cards given to the guests.
The couple’s efforts paid off. Kate shares, "It is possible to achieve the wedding of your dreams even without a wedding coordinator, especially if the ceremony and the reception are all in the same place. My husband is very effective in managing details. He prepared schedules for the suppliers, for our entourage, for own families, and for us. In addition, the planning process also prepares the husbands-to-be and wives-to-be for married life, so I encourage couples to get involved."
