Love Story

For Joana and Pao, it was love at first sight when they met. Joana shares, "Pao and I met a at a birthday dinner party. We were introduced by a common friend who had a crush on him. This friend of ours had already shown me Paolo's picture before so I already knew what he looks like. My first impression of him was, 'I could see myself marrying this guy someday,' but of course, I secretly kept that all to myself at that time.

After a year and a half of dating, Joana and Pao tied the knot in a civil ceremony. But since the two wanted to have a church wedding, they decided to get married again on their fifth year anniversary.

Wedding Preparations

To celebrate five years of love, Joana and Paolo said their "I dos" in a traditional ceremony held at St. James the Great church in Bolinao. The grand affair was laced with rustic details that came in warm summery tones.

Coming from a family of singers, Paolo's dad and siblings serenaded the guests with beautiful love songs all throughout the night.

Joana, who was keen on personalizing select details for their big day, channeled her creative side and took out her art kit to work on the invitations and favors.

According to Joana, her friends and family really helped lighten her load. She shares, "Don't try to do everything on your own, otherwise, you will go crazy. It is okay to ask for help, too. Set up a craft night, where you can have all your best girls help you out with the wedding details."
