Jhoan and Kelly met in the workplace. Jhoan was in a management trainee program, which entailed shadowing a senior operations manager. For a month, Jhoan was tasked to accompany Kelly in his meetings. After such meetings, the two would have their coaching sessions at Starbucks. Through those sessions, Jhoan and Kelly found more about each other. Love took its course, and they officially became a couple a year after.
Almost three years later, Jhoan and Kelly vacationed in Hong Kong and Macau. Jhoan and Kelly walked around The Venetian Macao, and found a quaint little café. "When we got settled in, in my peripheral vision, I could see Kelly trying to reach for something in his bag, and [when] I quickly turned my head to look at him, he suddenly pulled his hand out of the bag, looking like a kid being caught in doing something he shouldn't. We just laughed and he became silent," shares Jhoan. Then, Kelly finally found the perfect moment to propose, and so he took out the box and asked Jhoan to marry him. Just as Jhoan said yes, a Russian quartet came over to play sweet music.
Jhoan and Kelly wanted their wedding to be inspired by an enchanted forest. They chose The Mango Farm as their venue, which allowed them to have an outdoor ceremony. An indoor reception space, also within the compound, was dressed up in the couple's chosen motif featuring shades of violet.
To minimize their stress as they prepared for the big day, Jhoan and Kelly put their full trust in Vatel Manila's Dylan Gozum, who dressed up the ceremony and reception areas. The couple personalized their celebration by preparing a surprise dance number for their guests. "Kelly and I shared the tasks, and we were both hands-on. I didn't expect it of him, but the fact that he was so participative and engaged made the planning easier and fun!" exclaims Jhoan.
Jhoan and Kelly was able to enjoy their big day because they didn't sweat the small stuff. The bride tells other couples, "Just enjoy the day. Your guests won't really know if there's a teeny-tiny detail missing, so just keep your cool."
