There's a lot of reasons why a bride should consider wearing an RTW wedding gown. For one, it could arguably be more affordable than a designer-made frock. Second, it will save you precious wedding prep time; and third, you'll immediately see what your gown will look like, thus eliminating the stress and anxiety involved in not knowing how your final dress would turn out. White Label Bridal ticks all the right boxes when it comes to all of these. Owned by four sisters "inspired by their love for fashion and all things beautiful," the brand's hands-on approach in helping you find your dream wedding dress will make your bridal journey stress-free and as special as it can be.

In an interview with Preview, Gaile Tan, one of the four founding sisters of the brand, tells us more about White Label, why an RTW dress may be the best option for you, and how you can get started on your quest to finding the perfect wedding gown to say "I do" in.

Please take us to the beginning of White Label Bridal. How and when did you start the brand?

"White Label Bridal started last 2013, when my eldest sister got married and we were exposed to the wedding industry. During that time, there weren’t a lot of options for RTW wedding gowns here in the Philippines. The trend then was mostly designer custom made and RTW choices were mostly high end or the low end ones you can find in Divisoria. So we [had] an idea of creating a brand that caters to the mid-range market. Beautiful, quality gowns that are still budget friendly."

How’s the work load distribution among the four of you? Is everyone equally hands-on when it comes to the day-to-day operations?

"My other sisters have day jobs so I mostly handle the day-to-day operations, while they handle the behind-the-scenes. But when choosing our collection, each one contributes their opinions and style [preferences], which makes our collection more diverse and unique."

Can you explain to us the step-by-step process of ordering a wedding gown from White Label? How long does it usually take?

"Our standard lead time is six months. After saying yes to the dress, we’ll take the bride’s measurements and we’ll order it in their size with their preferred customization such as neckline or train adjustment, color change, addition of beads, etc. Once the gowns arrive, we do local alterations as well, to make sure the gown is perfectly fitted to their size. For brides that have less than six months lead time, we have sample gowns available that can be altered to their size."

Where are your wedding gowns made? Do you have a say in the design or do you order readily made dresses from overseas?

"Most of our gowns are from Hong Kong. All gowns are carefully chosen with that of a White Label bride in mind. We choose gowns based on different body types and different personalities of soon-to-be brides. Some gowns, we design ourselves. We’ll choose the lace and the cut and neckline of the gown."

What do you think is the upside of going the RTW route as opposed to have your wedding dress custom-made by a designer?

"With a ready-to-wear gown, you’ll already know the finished product—from the cut, the lace used, and overall look of the gown. So this shortens the process of having to go through several fittings just to be able to see if you’ll like your gown or not, thus, lessening the stress for soon-to-be brides. Also, most of our brides get to enjoy the process of inviting their friends and trying out different cuts to find the dress."

Do you also accept custom-made requests?

"We are accepting minimalist bridal gown designs and we also custom-make entourage and party dresses."

Describe a White Label muse. What type of brides do you cater to?

"A White Label Bride believes in the concept that not everything beautiful needs to be overpriced. Most of our brides like value for money without sacrificing the aesthetic. They are very smart and practical about planning their wedding. Their style is classic, feminine, and romantic but with an edge."

What’s your price range?

"Ready-to-wear bridal gowns' prices range from P20,000 to P90,000. For entourage and evening gowns, price starts at P8500."
