Just because you are tying the knot in the country’s capital doesn’t mean you can no longer be close to nature as you celebrate on your big day. Contrary to what some may think, there are quite a lot of picture-perfect garden wedding receptions in Manila that can even make you forget that you’re in the city. Many of them are close to nice churches, too, so you won’t have to worry about getting stuck in the traffic as you travel to your banquet’s venue.

Here are some of them:

1. Casa Manila Patio

Location: Real St., Intramuros, Manila

Contact: 2527-3135

This stone-floored courtyard is part of Casa Manila, a historical museum located at the Plaza San Luis Complex of Intramuros. Considered one of the most widely recognized venues in the walled city, it is surrounded by plants, some of which even crawl on the brick walls that enclose the Spanish-style venue. It also has an old fountain in the middle, which gives it a more regal look.

This location can accommodate up to 150 guests, so it is great for bigger alfresco wedding receptions. And while it is already jaw-dropping in the daytime, the venue becomes even prettier at night, especially as the lights dimly illuminate the impressive details of the courtyard itself and the centuries-old structures that surround it.

2. Patio Victoria

Location: 5435 General Luna St., Intramuros, Manila

Known for its “old world charm,” Patio Victoria is a venue known for its cobblestone walkways that go so well with its antique wooden gates and quaint fountains. It is surrounded by large trees and blooms as well, which definitely add to its charm.

Because it’s a full-service venue, it has everything one needs to have a hassle-free celebration. Brides-to-be are also free to choose between Sofia and Diana Gardens, which both provide an excellent view of the impressive vegetation in the area. Meanwhile, those who want an indoor celebration may also opt for the Sofia Banquet Hall, which is just beside Sofia Garden.

3. Ilustrado Restaurant

Location: 744 General Luna St., Intramuros, Manila

Contact: 8527-3674, catering@ilustradorestaurant.com.ph

People keep coming back to Ilustrado because of its sumptuous Spanish-Filipino dishes. Apart from tourists and patrons, the restaurant has also served heads of state and other important people like the King and Queen of Spain.

Many have fallen in love with its Hispanic architectural design and quaint interiors. No wonder, it has also become a famous venue for different functions, including nuptials. It has a grand ballroom that can hold big events as well as function rooms for smaller gatherings. Most importantly, it has a courtyard garden that’s perfect for intimate outdoor celebrations.

4. Father Blanco’s Garden

Location: Gen. Luna St. Cor. Sta. Potenciana, Intramuros, Manila

Contact: 8526-6794

Named after Father Manuel Blanco, the Father of Philippine Botany, this venue is considered one of the most gorgeous spots within Intramuros. Many people love it for its cobblestone walkways lined with palm trees and fountains that boast intricate designs. It also has an iconic courtyard that’s right by the ruins of the old convent at San Agustin Church.

Though it is technically a public park, it accommodates functions like weddings. Because of its location, it has become a popular reception venue for those who are tying the knot in the famous San Agustin Church.

5. Paco Park

Location: Belen St., Paco, Manila

Contact: 8525-7853, 8524-2022 loc. 101

This one may seem like a bizarre choice, considering the fact that it used to be a cemetery. But if you are looking for a fascinating yet budget-friendly venue or are simply interested in a unique garden-like location for your reception, this may be the one for you. The entire park looks great, after all. In fact, it is regarded as the most beautiful park in the country. The place also brags a lot of lovely spots that are ideal for romantic photo sessions.

Inside Paco Park, there is the Chapel of St. Pancratius, which can hold wedding ceremonies with up to 100 guests. You won’t have to worry about the hot Manila weather as the chapel is fully airconditioned. Those who wish to get hitched here need to get in touch with the Vincentian fathers of Adamson University who are currently the ones managing the chapel.

Manila may seem too familiar that people often overlook the fact that it has a lot of hidden gems that are waiting to be explored and celebrated. Indeed, these venues are among them. They do not simply remind people about the country’s rich history but also make them aware of the beauty they may be missing out on.
