There's no doubt that a wealth of diverse experiences is key to a photographer's creativity. For David Hanson, the story is no different. As a high schooler who loved a variety of subjects from science, math, visual arts, and music, his diverse interests has allowed him a fairly smooth transition from the diesel automotive industry to wedding photography.
Having started out professionally in 2002, David has worked with big name clients such as Panasonic, Del Monte, Toyota, Honda, Smart Parenting, Yummy, and Real Living, among many others. But as David says, God had other plans to add to his already impressive resume, and from an initial interest in fashion and glamour, he now covers wedding and prenuptial shoots.
With photographs that capture everything from the nostalgia of 1920's romance to cinematic moments of intimacy, it comes as no surprise that David's flexibility shines through his work. Early on, he'd already tried out all sorts of photographic genres, including portraits, fashion, weddings, products, and travel, while editorial work eventually led him to advertorial work. But it was his three-year-long training with fellow photographer Pat Dy that really provided him exposure to the wedding industry.
While David believes that many different photographers can have similar styles, he does admit that he always aims to bring out emotions in his photograph. According to him, most of the time, the couples he works with already have a clear vision of what they want. For his part, David adjusts accordingly so that his clients' personalities shine through with the help of appropriate styling and props.
Still, that doesn't mean that this photographer's ready to rest on his laurels. In fact, David continues to improve his skills by investing in equipment upgrades, enhancing his post-processing techniques, and researching on different looks and trends.
With such a versatile nature fuelling his creativity, it's no wonder that David has a work portfolio that's both thought-provoking and heartwarming. There's no doubt that his humility, dedication to his craft, and curiosity about the world will convince many other couples in the future that he is exactly who they need to work with so that they can enjoy memorable prenuptial and/or wedding photographs in the years to come.
And as for the future? David says he sees himself blessing other people through his skills in photography--as he is certain God wants him to.
