Janet Susan R. Nepales is an award-winning journalist who received the Journalist of the Year award in 2005 from Celebrity Chronicle, Journalist of the Month (December 2007) from Asian PR-Wire, and Outstanding Alumna in Multi-Media 2008 from the Quezon City High School Alumni Association. She also received the top prize in photojournalism from the Asian Institute of Journalism in Manila for her photography of Pope John Paul II’s visit to the Philippines. She graduated cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and was valedictorian of Quezon City High School.
Based in Los Angeles, Janet is a member of the prestigious Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) that does the Golden Globe Awards and is the first Filipina member of the organization in its 60-plus history. She has a column for Philippine News, the oldest and leading Filipino-American newspaper, entitled “Dateline: Hollywood”; a column in Manila Bulletin, one of the top newspapers in the Philippines, entitled “Hollywood Bulletin”; a column in OK! Philippines Magazine, a monthly entertainment magazine in the Philippines, entitled “Hollywood Insider”; and writes for Candy Magazine, a monthly teen magazine in the Philippines. She also has a column, “Pinay in Hollywood,” in FemaleNetwork.com.
Janet has a weekly entertainment segment in Kababayan LA, on Channel 18 every Thursday at 4:30 PM where she alternates with her husband, writer Ruben V. Nepales, for “The Nepales Reports,” which is a weekly entertainment update on events going on in Hollywood.
She is also a contributing editor of BalikBayan magazine, a publication distributed in the U.S. and the Philippines and is the Los Angeles correspondent of GMA-7 Network, Inc., the leading television network in the Philippines.
Janet was also featured in Carina Monica Montoya’s book, Filipinos in Hollywood as well as in Enrique R. Sadiosa and Pierre Tremblay’s “Mga Bagong Bayani, Book One, 2008.”
A long-time member of the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF), Janet has two daughters, Bianca Nicole and Rafaella Angelica.
