Curious about which place in the US is recession-free? Take your eyes off New York and set your sights on Washington State instead.
Moody's Economy.com foresees a 2.5 percent economic growth for the fourth largest state in the US, a far cry from New York's decline at 4.2 percent. Yahoo! Real Estate further reports that Washington is getting a boost from government expenses that aim to fight the recession.
More people are attracted to the state's performance in the midst of recession as well. George Mason University's Center for Regional Analysis confirms that Washington has the most talents with advanced degrees. BusinessWeek even reported that private-sector lawyers, accountants, engineers, and consultants already contributed 21 percent of economic output before the recession.
If you’re currently in the US—either in Washington or any other state—does this make you feel more hopeful and optimistic about the economic situation? We’re curious to know how this bit of news affects you and your family, especially if you have relocated or are planning to.
