How do you manage your finances? Take this quiz to find out your tipid profile. By Myra Mortega-Calulo

Most women seem to be hardwired to love shopping, but that doesn't mean we don't know a thing about pinching pennies. Career women and moms alike have ample experience when it comes to handling finances, which involves juggling monthly expenses, allocating a certain amount for savings, and giving in to an indulgence or two.

 

So what's your budgeting profile? Are you the type who sets a price limit for every purchase? Or maybe you like to carefully analyze every potential expense? Maybe you like keeping every receipt to track how much you've already spent? Find out which smart saver profile suits you best with this quiz!

1 .) You really want to get a certain gadget. What's your spending strategy?
  1. Pay for it in installments
  2. Go for a cheaper second-hand model
  3. Wait for six months since the retail price will be lower by then
2 .) Your friends are planning to go on an out-of-town trip. How do you prepare for it?
  1. Adjust my monthly expenses to account for it
  2. Go online for budget hotels and airfares
  3. Research on cheap local adventures and finds for food and pasalubong

  1. Finding and haggling for bargains at tiangges and the like
  2. Vegging out in front of the TV

  1. I'll wait for a discounted one to come my way

  1. In the pantry, since I always bring baon

  1. I categorize my expenses according to priority.
  2. I set a price cap for every purchase--if the item goes beyond my limit, I won't buy it.
  3. I keep a notebook to keep track of all my purchases.
7 .) How do you usually de-stress?
  1. I go for after-work drinks with my friends.
  2. I watch several episodes of my favorite TV series.
  3. I hit the gym to release tension.
8 .) What's your tipid mantra?
  1. Never buy at full price what you can get at a discount.
  2. Figure out your budget and stick to it.
  3. Always ask yourself whether or not you really will use something.
9 .) Once your bills are paid, where does your money usually go?
  1. It goes directly into my savings account.
  2. I try to travel--after all, it's best done before I get too old!
  3. I use it to buy shoes and clothing.
10 .) What's your biggest splurge yet?
  1. A designer-label shopping spree
  2. A condo unit I’m paying in installments
  3. A month-long trip around Southeast Asia

    I'm a spending squasher! :)

    "Utilitarian chic" best describes you, since you only spend on things you need, and you prioritize purchases accordingly. You like shopping, but you do it in moderation; you make it a point to assess whether the splurge is worth it or not before you fork over the money for an item.
