While its primary concern is the ecosystem, The Green Book by Elizabeth Rogers and Thomas M. Kostigen also offers sound advice on saving money, with star treatment to boot: it features contributions from celebrities like Ellen Degeneres, Will Ferrell, Cameron Diaz, and more. Here are some money- and ecosystem-saving tips from celebrity contributors.
Jennifer Aniston saves money and water by taking three-minute showers and brushing her teeth while she's at it. Instead of using gas-guzzling cars, comedian Will Ferrell drives an electric car. Meanwhile, Tyra Banks uses a water filter instead of buying bottled water.
Cameron Diaz, who wrote the book's foreword with William McDonough, also shares childhood memories of her grandmother raising livestock in her backyard. "It was a different era and a different mentality. She raised her first four children there. I watched my grandmother reuse tinfoil and plastic bags. And when she was finished with a loaf of bread, she kept that plastic bag and she would use it for something. She would make soap out of the fat drippings off of the meat she cooked. Nothing went to waste. Everything was reused and recycled. So I had that as an example," she wrote.
