You think your company has awesome perks? Think again. While every other company offers its employees health insurance, meal or transportation allowance, and special discounts, Boxed has kicked it up a notch.
Founder and CEO Chieh Huang pays for his employees' weddings and their children's college tuition. Though the tuition amount wasn't disclosed, full-time employees can get up to $20,000 (a little over P1M) for their wedding.
Huang takes part of his salary, donates it to a non-profit foundation, and that foundation then gives the money to the employees.
Huang got the idea during one of his warehouse visits when he got the chance to speak to his employees. Apparently, most of them were having trouble making ends meet. Huang spoke to an employee named Marcel who had to take up a second job just to support his mother and plan his wedding.
The rest, as they say, is history.
