Healthy aphrodisiacs

Jul 25, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

It's no secret that some foods can stimulate not only your appetite, but also your sexual urges. Some foods such as pumpkin pie and buttered popcorn can even evoke sensuality just by their smell. Discovery Health lists some healthy food aphrodisiacs that affect your libido. If you're gearing yourself and your partner up for a steamy night, it might help to eat some of these beforehand and stock them in your pantry for future consumption.

* Asparagus - The vitamin E in this vegetable can stimulate production of sex hormones and may help keep a healthy sex life.

* Chili peppers - The chemical capsaicin is the source of the pepper's heat, which stimulates nerve endings, raises the pulse, and produces sweat.

* Chocolate - Willy Wonka was right in saying that these yummy treats can give anyone a natural high.

* Ginkgo - This herb can stimulate the release of nitric oxide, which widens the genitals' blood vessels and erectile tissue. However, people with heart disease should steer clear of this one.

* Oysters - This shellfish is a good source of zinc, which is essential in producing testosterone.
