Eating tips for your wedding

wedding_eatingtips.jpgThe ring has been picked, the caterer has been paid, the only thing left to do is walk down the aisle and say "I do." Except that you can't! Stress has finally caught up with you and your nerves are shot! What you want to be is feeling calm and collected on the day itself. Here are some sure-fire eating tips to relax tense muscles, quiet your brain and get your feel-good hormones flowing for this most special day of your adult life.

Now is not the time to diet. There will be plenty of time for that later on. If you wanted to lose weight for your wedding day you should have done it before. Months before the wedding, eat balanced, nutritious meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Eat a healthy breakfast on the day of wedding (think fiber and oatmeal) and have snacks available if it is a late afternoon wedding. You do not want to faint as you say your vows! Not eating will aggravate what is already a heart-pounding experience.
Try grazing. Eat small meals about four hours apart so that your energy is maintained. But keep choices healthy--fruits, whole grains, fish.
The night before the big day, try taking either chamomile tea or warm milk drizzled with a small bit of honey. They are perfect for creating a sedative-like effect so you get a good night's sleep. The sugar in the honey tells your brain to turn off orexin, a recently discovered neurotransmitter that is linked to alertness.
