Here's one more reason to love coffee: It lowers the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
A study by a US team for the Journal of Neuroinflammation found out that coffee can actually prevent cholesterol from penetrating the brain. The study showed that coffee strengthens the "blood brain barrier," a filter that separates harmful chemicals like cholesterol in the bloodstream. Cholesterol excess can damage and weaken this barrier, as previous studies have already shown.
The best thing about coffee is that it’s available and you can have it anytime! Except, of course, you need to cut down the cream and syrup for a bit so you can avoid getting more cholesterol and render the caffeine useless, since Dr. Jonathan Geiger, who led this study, said that high levels of cholesterol are a risk factor for Alzheimer's.
