Keep yourself motivated with these reminders from NBC's The Office

Oct 2, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

theoffice.jpgMost shows in the United States come back for a new season in fall, and one of the highly anticipated programs is The Office starring Steve Carell, which premiered last week. In keeping with the season premiere, NBC.com has released promo images featuring individual characters with quotes that apply to them--which may even apply to you, too.

Our favorites so far are Jim's (Ambition: Reach for the stars, but don't hurt yourself), Michael's (Leadership: The ability to move forward even when you've burned your foot), and Meredith's hilarious take on sacrifice (Sometimes you have to give up your party girl lifestyle for a full-time job). You can use your favorite message as a wallpaper on your desktop, or post the applicable message somewhere you can see it. Which one of these messages can you relate to the most?

The basics of power dressing

Sep 18, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

powerdressing.jpgPower dressing looks difficult to achieve, but with a bit of resourcefulness and creativity, you can soon breeze through work in style and maybe even clinch the job you aspire for, and not just what you already have.

Even though more workplaces are becoming more liberal and casual toward office attire, Kathy Ireland of kathyireland.com says it's still important to own business attire pieces since these can be tools to get ahead in the corporate ladder. Furthermore, power dressing can give you a boost of confidence and a sense of power and authority, since your body language can be dictated by the clothes you wear. "If you are in an elegant, tailored suit, you're probably more likely to stand up straighter, look people in the eye, and offer a firm handshake than if you are in jeans and a t-shirt," Kathy said.

Kathy advises on some basic pieces for your "power wardrobe." Check them out in the gallery below.

Bigger and better Cosmo YOUniverse Leg 2

Aug 7, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

If you missed the first leg of Cosmo YOUniverse last June, we hope you didn’t miss the second leg of YOUniverse last July 26 for it was certainly bigger and better!

Once again, FemaleNetwork was there to capture all the fun and pampering that Cosmo girls enjoyed in all the exciting booths. This time, the ladies were treated to fancy drinks at the Cosmo cocktails bar, had their fortunes read by tarot card readers of Maharlika Infinitum, chatted with the roaming Cosmo boys, caught some of their favorite episodes in the special screening of Sex and the City, and shopped in stores offering great fashion finds! Former Cosmo fashion editor Donna Cuna-Pita even gave attendees tips on dressing according to their body types. Guests also had fun checking out the henna tattoos, caricature, and Foto-Loco booths!

There were not as many beauty booths as last time, but a lot of girls did line up for primping at the Paul & Joe booth. Cosmo girls also crowded FemaleNetwork’s Cosmo Covers booth, where once again we gave them the chance to be on the cover of their favorite magazine.

If you had your lovely cover photo taken, make sure to download it here!

Check out our photos from the event and see what a fabulous time we all had!
