Travel site lists NAIA in list of top 10 worst airports in the world. Do you agree?

article_naia.jpgA recent post on The Guide to Sleeping in Airports listed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the fifth worst airport in the world. Travelers were asked to participate in an online survey to determine which airports made for some truly horrifying experiences, and the comments for NAIA ranged from stories of bribery, filthy toilets, and a lack of Internet access.

A traveler named Mecanix had this to say, “Bribery and corruption in this airport is rife and the scams start the minute you walk off the plane.”

Brenty, another user, states,  “It has to be experienced to be believed. Think of a bombed out ruin, and you'll get some idea. It's like a cattle yard, only worse.”

  1. Yes. Even local travelers have the same complaints, and this poll just proves that. This survey shows that changes have to be made, especially if we want to become a prime tourist destination.
  2. Yes. NAIA’s facilities aren’t great and some of its policies are really outdated or just unreasable, but I don’t see what can be done about it.
  3. No. NAIA may not be the nicest airport, but I don’t think we should be up that high on the list, and I think those comments were really exaggerated, especially in the case of Terminals 2 and 3.
  4. No. My experience traveling through NAIA wasn’t negative at all! It was clean and efficient.
  5. Frankly, I don’t care. As long as I get to my destination in one piece, I couldn’t care less about the state of airports.

    Totoo, NAIA really is one of the worst airports I've been on. They need to upgrade that airport badly, napag-iiwanan na kasi ng panahon.

    yes it's one of the worst!!! its a shame to walk on a very crowded place where security was so minimal. And someone will offer help but in the end will ask money in return. You won't even feel safe and relaxed in the airport I hope with this survey result things will change in our airports..

    based sa experience every two months ako umuuwi from dubai to philippines always same story nangyayari...immigration people are the worst people inside the airport then sunod na lahat ng staff...May isang uwi ako at buntis ako that time one of the immigration staff sinabihan ako na "sa susunod pag wala kayong pera wag na kayo bumalik dito" shocked ako kasi she was asking for some money because of my 32 inches LCD TV na dala ko sabi nya babayad daw ako ng tax eh sabi ko used na sya sabi nya sa akin "pwede naman daw mapag usapan" nung hindi ako pumayag ayun sumigaw na at nagalit sa akin...kakahiya talaga...

    agree! immigration people are the worst people inside the airport, nkakahiya talaga, sana hindi pa huli at maging aware ang government sa nangyayari.

    We've been left behind in terms of architectural design and lay-out ng airport terminals. Sayang kasi yung Terminal 3 dapat lipat na dun ang international operations. That one would at least give some competition. Pero itong NAIA, forget it, refurbishing it will cost the taxpayers a fortune.

    yes its one of the worst..service, the appearance, everything..para bang imbisna matuwa ka sa pagbalikmo sa pinas baligtad ang nangyayari..



    mayterminal fee tapos ganyan ang itsura..sabi ng tito ko sa lahat daw ng airport na napuntahan niya sa naia lang daw may terminal fee nakakahiya..and everytime na umuuwi kami lagi na lang may mga nagpapabayad.. tss



    ayusin nila yan dahil yan unang nakikita ng mga tourists..first impression pa lang bagsak na..yung terminal three dapat for international flights na lang since mas maganda siya

    oo,kasi ibang2 tayo sa mga airport ng ibang bansa tulad ng sa changi airport sa singapore.. haba pa ng pila.. nka experience ko yan ng pumunta kami ng hongkong ..sa hongkong airport ang bait ng staff .. hindi madumi ang mag palikuran nnila sa naia ang dumi2.. tyaka hindi masyadong secure.....wala masyadong mga tourist desk.. hay nakoo!... imimprove na sana ang naia!.. sayang napapagiwan na tyao ng ibang bansa !...

    worst airport talaga! i went to the NAIA Terminal 1 to pick up ung fiancee ko, all i kno is that ung "bay area" ay nakalagay "if your last name starts with A,B,C stay here" or something like that...mas madali dba? a few months, binago na pla nila ung board dun and nakalagay nalang is "bay 1" up to "bay 16" - nakakainis kasi binilkin mo na lang dun sa arriving passenger na dun dapat maghintay sa tapat ng letter kung saan nag sisimula ung surname nya. mas nakakalito pa ang ginawa nila...pano kung walang roaming ung arriving passenger? eh tinaggal na rin nila ung paging system sa loob...antagal pa ng pila sa customs na inaabot ng 2 oras o higit pa... nung hindi ako makita ng fiancee ko, meron dalawa dun na taga airport(kasi may hawak sila two-way radio and tinanong kung kelangan daw ng tulong o kaya naman kung kelangan nyo ng taxi) so madaling sabi, nagkita kami ng fiancee ko - tapos sabay sabi ng manong "give me money - i found her" jusko, dalawa pa silang nanghingi ng pera...at d pa natapos un - sabay lingon sakin at nag tagalog - "wala kaba riyan? nakita mo na sya" ang sabi ko sa kanya sabay taas ng kilay- DIBA BINIGYAN KNA NYA? BAKIT HIHINGI KAPA SAKIN? napalakas ng boses ko kaya ayun, umalis nalang at hinimas pa braso ko...bwisit tlaga..para kang nasa divisoria - andaming tao , wla pang wifi, onti ang security, no wonder kaya pla ang lalakas magdala dito ng mga illegal na gamot kasi napakaluwag natin pagdating sa security... sa mga local flight carrier naman- andami ring modus operandi!

    I feel sorry for our own airport,they shoul change the whole building!its old,there is nothing much to do,i only come wen only 2 hours prior to my flight because nothing is inside,duty free is worst even the restaurants! i see some small "ipis" when bought my bread before departure!so discusting!President noynoy please try to change the airport!!!!
