Travelers' Tales: Gone to Guam

There's more to this tiny Pacific Island than meets the eye. By Lara Parpan

The largest of the Micronesian islands just east of Manila is a mere four hours away via plane. Despite arriving in Guam at dawn, I fell asleep instantly the minute my head touched the soft pillows of my bed at the resort I was staying in. When I awoke mid-morning, the vista of a sparkling light green-sapphire Pacific Ocean greeted me.

I like traveling light, so it was a pleasant surprise to know that this US territory lies on the same latitude as the Philippines (13°N). That means warm weather at a constant 29°C and two seasons like ours: dry from December to June and wet from July to November. Are you interested in visiting Guam? Scroll through the gallery below to find out what sights you can see on this Pacific Island.
