While it is difficult to take the Phallic School of Architecture with any sense of sobriety, it’s equally difficult to deny the suggestiveness of many of its exemplars. Indeed, the skyscraper—while it redefined the limits of urban real estate by economizing more vertical space than horizontal—can also be said to symbolize man’s eagerness to thrust himself toward the sky with no holds barred.

Here are ten prime examples of such phallic architecture.

"The Leaning Tower of Pisa. Sadly, this architectural phallus, never fully erect, continues to sink—its rate of fall estimated at around one millimeter yearly." Something new for me. Thanks! :)

I had an opportunity to see the Obelisk of Luxor and the Eiffel Tower up close, I must say, they were both awe-inspiring, to say the least. Trivia: on the side of the Eiffel Tower, names of famous French scientists and mathematicians are engraved (e.g. Focault, Laplace, etc.) Also, this is where Focault's famous giant pendulum experiment took place.

The Swiss Re Building is magnificent! The cobalt blue glass windows are mesmerizing from a distance. It looks like a gigantic embellished bullet. I have never seen it in other magazines. Thanks for featuring it here.
