Just like in fashion, tech fads today may very well be history in a matter of months, weeks, and with the new year just around the corner, even days. If the iPhone served you well in 2008, for instance, you may find yourself lusting over a new phone come January.

If you've yet to give yourself the most sophisticated phone in the market now, you may want to learn the upcoming phone trends first. Daniel Ionescu of PC World rounded up the new wave of cellular phone trends that will hit the market in 2009 up to early 2010. If you think cellphones can't get any better, think again.
Bigger storage. The Sony Ericsson W705 has a phone memory of only 120MB, but you can take advantage of the 4GB memory card that will come with it.
Faster and more responsive to touch. Yuppies, businessmen, and professionals on the go would appreciate the Asus P565, hailed as the fastest phone in the world this early. Backed by Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, this phone is also equipped with Asus' touch-responsive interface, High-Speed Downlink Packed Access (HSDPA) technology, and support for EDGE/GPRS/GSM 900/1800/1900 networks.
Nokia's answer to the iPhone. If you've never fallen for the lure of Apple, Nokia's 5800 Express Music just might be harder to resist. With its big, 3.2 touch-screen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, expandable 8GB memory card, and WiFi capabilities, you may never look at any other i-product ever again. 5800 Express Music will even be accompanied by a Come with Music package, which will give users unlimited access to the Nokia Music Store.
Bigger, better photography. Shutterbugs and camwhores will love the Samsung Pixon, a phone that comes with an 8-megapixel camera and a 3.2-inch, 240 x 400-pixel touch-screen. You'll love Pixon's features: dual-power LED flash, advanced shake reduction, face detection, Smile Shot technology, face tagging, geotagging, and a photo browser with an accelerometer sensor. You can kiss pixellated videos goodbye, too, as this camera records videos at 720 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second.
Precise navigation. Expected to best other Global Positioning System (GPS)-capable smartphones, the Garmin Nuvifone has its strong GPS technology as backup for its rich database and "turn-by-turn, voice-prompted navigation." Just imagine, this phone can even help you find your car in a crowded parking lot!
