1 .) Your 10-year-old girl's class is going on a camping trip. Do you allow her to go?
  1. You tell her camping isn't practical and suggest having a picnic with you at the local park instead.
  2. You'll sign her permission slip if she wants to go--as long as you can come along as a chaperone.
  3. You'll allow her to go if it's what she wants and she can justify her decision.
  4. You tell her there are better things she can do with her weekends. Perhaps you can enroll her in painting lessons.
2 .) You and your husband just had a fight, and you realize your young children heard every word. What do you do?
  1. You acknowledge that they heard you fighting but avoid answering any other questions.
  2. You wait for things to simmer down. One day in the future, you'll sit down with your eldest child to talk about your problems.
  3. You tell them everything's going to be all right and tuck them into bed.
  4. You tell them it's bad to eavesdrop on adults' conversations.
3 .) You're a stay-at-home mom, and your husband just lost his job. What's your next step?
  1. You look for a job too. You have to make sure your family has a source of income.
  2. You take on a sideline and continue taking care of the kids as he looks for another job.
  3. You talk things over with your husband and figure out whether you should also apply for a job while he's looking for a new one.
  4. You have a work-from-home career of your own, so it's time to step it up and take it to the next level.
4 .) How do you divide household chores between your children?
  1. You assign the chores arbitrarily but make sure they all have equal responsibilities.
  2. You divide them according to which tasks you feel each of them will enjoy best.
  3. You give them the task list and let them figure things out among themselves. You take over if the division starts getting uneven.
  4. You arrange the chores according to level of difficulty and assign them from the eldest to the youngest.
5 .) Which of these four values would you want to instill in your children first?
  1. Responsibility
  2. Respect
  3. Independence
  4. Obedience
6 .) Your 16-year-old daughter snuck out for a party even though you forbade her to go. What do you do?
  1. You have a screaming match, which ends with both of you in tears. When you're calmer, you go to her room to have a talk.
  2. You hug her in relief as soon as she comes in, but you chastise her for disobeying you.
  3. You don't scold her, but you tell her you're very disappointed in her and ground her for two weeks.
  4. You ground her for a month and ignore her for at least a week.
7 .) How would you describe your relationship with your children?
  1. You argue a lot, but they're disagreements made out of love. You feel that conflict makes your bond stronger.
  2. You are your children's caregiver and protector.
  3. You think of them as both your children and your friends. You're their confidante.
  4. You can be a bit strict with them, but you know they understand that it's for their own good.
8 .) Your daughter, who is in her junior year in high school, asks you if she can have a boyfriend. What do you say?
  1. "Has someone made a move on you? Let me at him!"
  2. "You have to be emotionally mature enough to handle it first."
  3. "Have you met a boy? Tell me about him."
  4. "Boys are off limits until you graduate from college."

  1. "Some mothers are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is love just the same, and most mothers kiss and scold together." - Pearl S. Buck
