How will you survive your very own spooky encounter?

What's the one trait that will help you get out of a scary situation? Take our quiz to find out! By Marianne Salazar

It’s late at night, and you’re still at work. You're relaxed, knowing that your office is one of the safest places around.

But what if things head a turn for the worse? What if the lights suddenly go off, and you find yourself all alone in a dark office? What if you hear ominous sounds from the hallway, reminding you of countless spooky things that go bump in the night? How will you get yourself out of a spine-tingling predicament? Take our quiz to find out!

1 .) Why are you still in the office at 10:00 p.m.?
  1. You’re finishing up additional tasks so you won’t worry about anything else on the weekend.
  2. You’re waiting for your gal pals to finish up their reports so you can get drinks afterward.
  3. You’re waiting for your boyfriend to pick you up.
  4. You're finishing up all your responsibilities for the following week, as you'll be on leave.
2 .) While you were minding your own business at your cubicle, the lights suddenly flicker and go off, enveloping the whole floor in complete darkness. You wait for the generator to come to life, but to no avail. What do you do?
  1. You try to look for the guard. He should have a flashlight, right?
  2. You start looking for the fire escape. If this blackout’s going to last for a long time, you better leave now!
  3. You go around the floor to look for other officemates to swap ghost stories with.
  4. You head to the elevators, ready to catch the first flight down once the lights go back on.
3 .) While walking around the floor, you find yourself entering an unfamiliar door. You open it, finding a dimly lit stairwell. Why do you decide to go down?
  1. You’re sure it's the fastest way out of the building.
  2. You’re already getting that uncomfortable prickly sensation at the back of your neck, as if someone’s watching you!
  3. You don’t like being alone--you feel like you’re already going crazy back there.
  4. You feel like the heavy darkness is choking you--you need to find some light!
4 .) You see a door while making your way down the stairs. While you were debating with yourself on whether you should enter it or not, you hear a noise from the other side. What do you do?
  1. You go in. There might be people there whom you can tag along with on your way out!
  2. You hesitate at first, but you eventually go in. Someone might need your help inside.
  3. You barge in, as it might be your way out.
  4. You enter, even if the sound seemed a bit unusual to you.
5 .) While exploring the new floor, you spot a black figure move in your peripheral vision. You turn around, only to find that you're all alone. What do you do?
  1. You try to look for it. You got nothing to lose, anyway.
  2. You follow the direction it went off to. Who knows, it might only be someone dressed in black who knows the way out.
  3. You turn the other way around. It definitely gave you the creeps!
  4. You convince yourself that it was nothing and continue on your way.
6 .) After a few minutes of fruitlessly walking along dim hallways, you find yourself stopping for a few minutes to rest. You take out your phone to call someone for help, but there's no signal. Your mind then drifts to the weird occurrences that have been plaguing you since the lights went out. How do you feel about it?
  1. You’re already getting annoyed. Why are all these crazy things happening to you tonight, when you have a million things to do?
  2. You’ve been getting the chills since the lights went out. You can’t wait to leave and curl up in your cozy bed.
  3. It’s definitely a bit creepy, but you’re sure you’ll find your way out soon.
  4. You’re not sure why, but you’re oddly calm about the whole thing.
7 .) While you’re resting, you suddenly hear loud footsteps heading quickly toward your direction. You panic, and you start running. Unfortunately, the heel of your shoe gets stuck on a loose tile. What do you do?
  1. You try to wedge your shoe out without damaging it, but as the footsteps come closer, you just decide to leave it there and run for your life.
  2. You take off your other shoe and hold it in your hand while running. You can probably go back for it some other time… assuming you get out of there safely.
  3. You leave your other shoe behind and run barefoot.
  4. You ruthlessly yank your shoe out, even if the heel gets horribly damaged. You blew a whole month’s paycheck on that pair, so there's absolutely no way that you’ll just leave them there!
8 .) While running, you spy a door off to the left. Do you dare enter it, despite your gut warning you that it’s a trap?
  1. Yes--you’ll never know what’s in it unless you enter.
  2. No--you trust your intuition, and you’d rather play it safe this time.
  3. No--you’ve seen way too many horror movies to know what happens next.
  4. Yes--it might just be the exit.
9 .) You finally burst through a door to find yourself alone on the well-lit side street outside your office building. To your surprise, it's exactly midnight. You also notice that the lights are back on in your floor. What do you do immediately do?
  1. You call your friends--this horrible night calls for a drink.
  2. You go back to office to regroup, but you’ll definitely be leaving in a bit.
  3. You ask the guard if he has heard of others who experienced the same thing you just did.
  4. You tell your boyfriend all about the terrible night you’ve had.
10 .) How would you feel about going back to work the next day?
  1. You're too scared to go back, but you decide to talk things through with your boss the following day.
  2. You feel like getting a break after such a crazy night. You plan to call in sick the following day.
  3. You're admittedly a bit perturbed, but you're not going to let it get in the way of your career goals.
  4. You're excited to go to work the following day, as you plan to retrace your steps.
