How prepared are you for the Christmas season?

Are you hyper for the holidays, feeling the Christmas spirit, or still stuck in Halloween? By Jennifer Chan

You know Christmas is in the air when the malls start playing Christmas songs, the streets are decorated with beautiful lights, and invites to family and class reunions start making their rounds.

Of course, it's also when deadlines for year-end reports loom closer, clients become more difficult, and your already heavy workload is doubled.

Putting it mildly, this time of the year can be quite busy. If you’re not prepared, you can easily be swept away by the frenzy or miss out on the fun altogether. To find out how prepared you are for Christmas 2012, take our quiz!

1 .) How many Christmas bazaars have you already been to?
  1. A fair few—you can never be too early with these things.
  2. One or two—it would be a shame to waste my free tickets.
  3. None—it’s way too early for me to even think about Christmas.
2 .) Have you already started on your Christmas shopping?
  1. Not really. I’ll wait until another holiday sale comes along.
  2. I’m almost done with my list, actually.
  3. Yes, but I’ve only just started looking for best buys.
3 .) Do you have any special traditions with your friends?
  1. My friends and I have already drawn lots for our yearly kris kringle.
  2. Someone mentioned Christmas caroling, but I have no concrete plans yet.
  3. No one in the group has really suggested anything.
4 .) Have you filed for a leave of absence at work?
  1. It hasn't really crossed my mind yet.
  2. I filed for my vacation leave as soon as my holiday plans were finalized.
  3. Now that you mention it, I guess I'd better make my request.
5 .) How far along are you with your office party preparations?
  1. Not to sound overly excited, but I already have my costume ready for our k-pop-themed party.
  2. I’ve confirmed my attendance, but I haven’t really given it much thought.
  3. I don’t even know when we’ll be having it.
6 .) Is your house already decorated for the holidays?
  1. The tree, the lanterns, and the mistletoes are already up. Did I miss anything?
  2. The box where the Christmas tree is kept has been brought out from storage. Does that count?
  3. We're too busy to remove the skeletons and the pumpkins.
7 .) You’ve just been to one reunion, and now you’ve been invited to another. What do you do?
  1. Say yes, of course. I knew that there would be a long list of parties to attend this season, so I made sure to clear my schedule ahead of time.
  2. I’m afraid I have to decline. I still have a lot of work to do, and it’s simply not feasible to say yes to every invite that comes my way.
  3. I may have to switch a few appointments around, but it looks like I'll be able to squeeze that in.
8 .) Any recent purchases?
  1. A candy cane
  2. A cute knitted sweater with a reindeer on it
  3. Additional Christmas decor for the house
9 .) Where will you be spending Christmas this year?
  1. I’ll probably spend it at home with my family.
  2. I have no idea. I guess I’ll wing it when the day draws near.
  3. I have it all planned out. First, I'll have dinner with my family at a reservations-only restaurant. Then, I'll meet up with my best friends for Simbang Gabi.
10 .) What’s on the table for Noche Buena?
  1. Lola’s signature fried chicken and lots of spaghetti—I made her promise to serve them already.
  2. I’ve been practicing my baking skills, so gingerbread men and santa sugar cookies are definitely on the plate.
  3. All I’m sure is that there will be wine.
