Christian Dior mobile phone to be launched

Prada has done it, and so has Dolce & Gabbana.

Now, French luxury-goods company Christian Dior has joined the tech bandwagon and will soon release a line of mobile phones it has produced in partnership with French manufacturer ModeLabs.

Brand name aside, though, what's so special about this phone?

Nothing, really - except maybe for its price tag. It's got a touchscreen, camera, and a mini version of the phone (called "My Dior") that ladies can clip onto their equally pricey handbags - features that aren't all too special, considering all the other kickass features other phones boast of.

The damage? US$5,000 which converts to roughly - hold on to your seats - 215,000 pesos. This places the Dior phone in the same market as the Vertu.

If you're really pining for a "branded" handset, the Armani and D&G phones cost only a fraction of the Dior's price at around US$600 (25,000 pesos). Besides, you won't find it here, as the Dior phone is meant for the brand-conscious consumers in Russia and China.
