Alicia Meyer poses for PETA

Oct 14, 2008 by FN's Shar Bareng

peta_alicia.jpgClad only in plastic wrap, actor-model Alicia Meyer is the new face of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific, for which her ad takes a dead aim at the meat industry.

With the tagline "Relate to Who's on Your Plate--No One Wants to Be Treated Like a Piece of Meat," the ad, shot by Raymund Isaac, shows Alicia sitting against a butcher shop backdrop.

Along with PETA, Alicia believes that animals have the same senses and emotions, and that eating meat is like eating a corpse.

"I'm challenging Filipinos to really think about what 'meat' is," Meyer said. "Eating flesh means eating the corpse of a tortured animal who did not want to die. I'm encouraging kind consumers to give vegetarianism a try."

Does Alicia Meyer's ad strike the same chord with you? Let us know what you think.
