There's no shortage of amazing storytellers and illustrators in the country, as was proven by this year's roster of National Children's Book Award (NCBA) finalists.
The National Book Development Board (NBDB) and the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) were proud t0 reveal the winning entries at the Mind Museum in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, on July 28, 2012.
Whether they tell of leaving the comforts of home or of a mysterious miracle in Quiapo, each entry is equally unique and guaranteed to bring back childhood memories for adult readers. You'll definitely have no problem picking up a book or two (or six!) for your children's ever-growing library.
And while these homegrown titles are sure to entertain and enthrall your kids, they'll also give your young readers a different perspective on today's relevant issues. Who knows? They might even be inspired to start penning their own storybooks!
