Have kids, will stay put. With everyone going out of town for the holidays, sometimes, the best thing to do is look for something to do as a family that's close to home. If you and your family have decided to stay (or are visiting) Manila this holiday season and want to take the kids somewhere that isn't the mall, here are five Manila-based hotels whose activities might appeal to you and your little ones.

1. Holiday Retreat at The Manila Hotel (December 1-30, 2011)

The Manila Hotel offers a series of holiday discounts for guests who check in. Published rates for the promo include two nights stay at the Superior Deluxe Room or Sunset/ Sunrise Suite plus breakfast for two, a one hour body massage for two at the Manila Hotel Spa, lunch for two, use of swimming pool and health club facilities, and Santa Claus Gift Socks for the kids. Rates differ from the 24th to the 26th.

2. Christmas Tree Lighting at the Dusit Thani Manila (December 15-28, 2011)

Dusit Thani celebrates the holidays with its annual Christmas Tree Prjoect. Dubbed Family Tree, the project is made up of Christmas trees that symbolize some of the country's most respected families. Guests are encouraged to vote for the best tree, with the winners receiving a cash prize that will be donated to the charities of their choice. The exhibit runs from Dec 15-28. The party reaches its height on the 24th and 25th, when Santa will be roaming the hotel to bestow gifts upon children who have been good all year.

3. Santa's Workshop at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel (December 24-25, 2011)

Nothing spells joy and cheer like a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, such as the one that adorns the EDSA Shangri-La's Lobby Lounge. To take things up a notch, Santa himself will set up shop in the hotel to give away presents to children who dine with their parents at HEAT on both Christmas eve and Christmas day.

4. Festive Season at the Marriot Hotel Manila (December 4, 11, 18, 24 and 25, 2011)

 

Marriott Café offers a promo price of only P2150 net/head for families who partake of the brunch buffet. Brunch includes everything from appetizer to dessert with free-flowing iced tea, soda, and sparkling wine. On the 25th of December, Santa Claus drops by at 12nn for a meet and greet with kids enjoying Christmas lunch. Other Christmas activities include a kid corner where the little ones can enjoy movies, games, glimmer tattoo, magic tricks, and other interactive games.

5. 35 Years of Holiday Traditions New Year's Package at The Peninsula Manila (December 31, 2011)
