You may be using a fake mobile phone and not know it. Scary, isn't it?
Counterfeiters have gotten so good (or "bad" may be the more apt adjective) that they've applied their faking prowess to everything from clothes, to designer bags, and now, even to gadgets - mobile phones included. So, always purchase gadgets from authorized distributors - and not just from any tiangge stall - because it's not easy spotting fakes, as even their packaging is copied quite excellently by these rogues.
And probably the most imitated mobile phone brand is Nokia. Here are some ways to spot the original phones from the, well, phony ones.
1. Look for the warranty. Nokia phones purchased from authorized dealers have a blue 12-month limited warranty sticker from Nokia Care on the phone's box. There should also be Nokia Care tamper proof stickers in the phone's accessories such as the charger, battery, memory, or data cable.
2. Seek the stamp of approval. Nokia handsets bought from authorized dealers have a tamper proof label at the back of each mobile phone, bearing the NTC logo and Type acceptance number as part of it. There must also be a Nokia tamper proof warranty seal at the back of each phone.
3. Join hands to see if your batt is the real deal. Check if your battery's hologram label reflects the Nokia Connecting Hands at one angle and the Original Enhancements logo at another. Also, when you tilt the hologram to the left, right, down, and upsides of the logo, you should see one, two, three, and four dots on each side, respectively.
