Site-seeing: create online mix tapes with 8tracks

Jan 16, 2009 by FN's Shar Bareng

If you want to something more special than a simple greeting or e-card for occasions such as birthdays or Valentine's Day, why not make good old romantic mix tapes—online?

You can now dedicate mix tapes (sans cassettes) to loved ones or make playlists to suit your moods on 8tracks.com. 8tracks allows music lovers to create playlists consisting of eight tracks available in their music library. If you can't find songs you want to include in your tape, you can even upload your own MP3s.

8tracks' cute, simple interface makes tapes even fun to personalize with an album cover or photo. You can also share your mixes with friends using Twitter or by embedding the code on your blog or website.

How's that for a thoughtful, musical greeting? It sure beats posting a simple "Happy Birthday" on somebody’s message board!
