Film students given HD cameras and Macs

May 28, 2008

RED Digital Cinema Inc. delivers the first of a total of five RED Cameras to the International Academy of Film and Television (IAFT), Asia's Premier Film School, making it the first film school in Asia to incorporate the vastly publicized new generation of cameras.

Praised by international directors like Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brokovich) and Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) as "better than shooting on film,” the RED is one of the most awaited products in film technology.

Students enrolled in IAFT's two-year Crazy Filmmaker’s Program will have the unique opportunity to work hands-on using RED with an international cinematography mentor on it. Starting October 20, 2008, this two year filmmaking residency with Bigfoot Entertainment will immerse film students in real-world education at its best with actual commercial productions including TV commercials, corporate videos, live-to-tape Fashion TV (FTV) segments, multi-media, and a full-length movie for international release per year.

The curriculum will also give each student a MacPro with Final Cut Pro, one terabyte external hard drive, and one HD camera — all worth at least USD 5,000. Most importantly, top of the class students will be credited in the movies for international release, thereby allowing them ImDB credit. To top it all, the Crazy students will share in a USD 10,000 bonus upon the completion of each movie, plus another USD 10,000 upon commercial distribution.

"IAFT is again setting a standard in filmmaking education in Asia by incorporating the Red One into the two-year Crazy Filmmaker’s Program,” says Caesar Ditan, Executive Director for Sales, Marketing, and Business Development. “This program gives students the opportunity to work on feature films, commercials and TV shows of Bigfoot Entertainment Inc., IAFT's parent company.”

The International Academy of Film and Television is Bigfoot Entertainment's learning institution for aspiring filmmakers and actors. More information can be found on www.filmschool.ph .
