People don't usually give much thought to umbrellas and usually, they would only buy one when rain starts pouring. They would usually grab the first available umbrella they see, provided it meets the basic requirement of respite from the rain.

It's amazing to note, however, that there are specialty umbrellas available, thanks to the companies that continue to improve their designs.
I found an oddly shaped umbrella while walking around home interior store Actus in Japan. Instead of having uniform circumference, this one is elongated--sort of like an oblong with one side longer than the other. The shape looks awkward to say the least, and I wondered, "Who'd ever carry that?"
After watching the demo video at the store, I realized that the unusual shape serves a special purpose. Not only does it protect you from rain (or sun exposure), it never gets inverted even with winds as strong as 33 kph. This seems to me like an umbrella worth investing in.
I searched online and found a brand called Shedrain WindPro whose umbrellas offer other benefits. They also create ultra flat, mini-umbrellas (as small as a mobile phone), plus other variants that automatically open or close.
It's amusing how much thought has been put into this everyday product. So if torrential rains wreaked havoc on your mood, outfit, and day, try one of these super-brellas to get the ample high-tech protection you need.
