Are you one of those who are still hesitant to buy skinny jeans or invest in several pairs thinking they’re just a fad that would quickly go out of style?
You need not wonder if skinny jeans will be here to stay. According to Marie Claire Philippine Edition Fashion Editor Pam Quiñones, they are absolutely here to stay. “Every decade in fashion history since the 50s has reinvented skinny jeans, also known as stovepipes or drainpipes,” writes Pam.
If your other reason for your reluctance in buying skinny jeans is how it will not fit your body shape, know that there are actually several types of skinny jeans you can choose from to fit your size and style preference. Here are a few guidelines on how to wear and keep this classic pair of pants up-to-date from Marie Claire, Fashion.About.Com and FashionTips.co.uk.
- Instead of lighter shades, opt for dark denim washes in dark blue, black, and gray since these slim down your legs the most, especially when worn with a top that has volume: tunics, bell-sleeve tops, big knit sweaters or cardigans, or anything blousy.
- If you have slim hips, a white pair is perfect for you.
- If you’re bottom heavy, darker jeans with hems ending below the ankle or lower are your best bet.
- Wear high heels with skinny jeans—with hems tucked behind—to lengthen your legs and create a slimmer silhouette. But they do look great with pointy-toed or ballet flats, too. Now that we are in that transition from rainy to cold season, you could also try wearing them tucked into boots, especially if you want to hide big calves.
- For a sophisticated spin, you can also wear dark skinny jeans paired with a beaded top or a smart tuxedo jacket for cocktails.

hi, i think skinny jeans will only look good on hipless ladies. but for those who are bottom heavy or with wide hips, i think wearing darker ones will still not do it. better to stick with the cl*ssic boot cut types ;D.. skinny jeans will never be for everyone
