Lucy Torres-Gomez may often get first dibs at the latest cosmetics and fashion trends, being a celebrity endorser, dance goddess, talk show host, and beauty columnist to boot. Yet this style icon also knows much about budget buys that are still of good quality. FemaleNetwork got to chat with her in the recent press launch of TV 5 (which replaces ABC 5 starting today), and she shared with us some great beauty finds that won’t cost us much as well as her take on budget shopping.Three Budget Beauty Finds
1. Concealer: “I think one of the best concealers is actually a local product: Michiko Breathable Concealer. The technology they use is from Japan, and it works really well. They’re not even available yet in stores like SM. It’s available only through direct-selling; they have an office (at the second floor of Liberty Center, Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong). You just go there, it’s a whole line. They were a guest in one of my shows, and that’s how I discovered them. I’ve been using that.”
2. Makeup brushes: “Those who are on a budget but want a complete set of brushes can also go to Michiko. They also have a complete set, ang galing din.”
3. Underarm whitening: “If you’re looking for pampaputi ng kili-kili, there’s something very cheap also. It’s a product from Bangkok but it’s locally available; it’s called Mistine White Spa Deodorant. It works. Wilma (Doesnt, co-host of Q-11’s The Sweet Life) swears by it, because after she gave birth daw, her armpits became dark.”
Lucy’s take on budget shopping
“I always say, buy quality all the time. Never buy disposable clothes or clothes that are cheap but you only get to wear for a few years since every time you wash them, they fall apart. Buy quality, even if you have to buy just five to ten items a year. Always go for the best that your money can buy. Also, look out for sales. You know, if you buy classic pieces, you can wear them whatever the season. We really don’t have seasons here anyway.”
