There are beauty products and services that we can scrimp on, but they do NOT include anything that concerns our hair. It takes a long time to grow back our locks, and we wouldn’t want to risk getting a botched job.

So where must we go for great cuts that are truly worth investing in?
One such salon is Essensuals Toni&Guy Manila with branches in Makati (6750) and Crowne Plaza, Ortigas. We recently had the chance to experience their world-class salon service and meet their new Technical Director, Paul Ashton.
A highly trained expert in both cut and color, Paul moved to the country from his post in Toni&Guy HongKong, where he is credited for attracting a busy clientele of expats and locals. He has also had stints as creative director in Toni&Guy salons in Beijing and New Zealand, and started out in Toni&Guy London, which has been admired across the UK for its innovative styling techniques. He is now in Toni&Guy’s Crowne Plaza branch to mentor their team of stylists.
Whether you want a funky or classic look, their capable staff can definitely cater to all your hair needs. After all, they all underwent rigorous training at Toni&Guy Hairdressing Academy, which employs the same standards for all their branches across the globe. They all follow similar hair patterns, with a particular cut for each lock of hair. In fact, if you ask for the same cut you got in Toni&Guy Ortigas when you go to their Hong Kong branch, they will give you exactly the same cut.
So head here to indulge in their precision cuts, from P550 to P1500, and hair treatments, which start at P1000. We like how Paul used the VM treatment (Vegetarian Miracle) from Davines, which has natural ingredients to nourish dry and brittle hair—which certainly characterized my locks, as Paul noted, since I had it rebonded and colored earlier this year. After the treatment, my hair felt soft and looked really shiny—an effect which lasted almost a week, even with daily shampooing.
