Dressing a petite frame

Aug 21, 2008 by FN's Chrissy Icamina

eva_longoria.jpgGreat things come in small packages. And if you're 5-foot tall Eva Longoria (though she claims she's 5'2), your body is definitely one super sexy great thing to have.

But no matter how much of a knockout your body is, ill fitting clothes don't spell sexy. How can people tell you've got a small waist if you're wearing a top that doesn't complement it? How can you blame people for thinking you're flat chested when loose clothes can't highlight the curves between your chest and waist?

Just look at Eva Longoria, would you think she's got curves in all the right places if she didn't wear the proper sized 00 clothing (yup, that's a double zero)?

Aside from right fitting clothes, find out other ways of bringing out the best out of a petite woman's body.

Here are some tips from Fashion Style You and Fashion 411:

- Stick to skinny pants and jeans, as wide-legged trousers will make you look shorter.

- Slingback heels will show off the full length of your leg, thus making your legs look longer.

- Pleats , V-necklines, and open jackets create an elongated silhouette.

- Wearing a monochromatic ensembles gives the illusion of a continuous, lengthwise flow.

But the most effortless and effective way of making a petite frame look great is wearing clothes that fit. Luckily for petite Filipinas out there, some clothing brands offer lines tailor made for the petite woman. One such company is Unarosa, which recently came up with a Special Petite Edition. "These clothes are made for Filipinas with a slimmer figure or smaller frame," explains Michelle Meneses of Unarosa. She candidly clarifies, though, "This doesn't mean though that we cater only to that market."

Here are some pieces from the Special Petite Edition.

Laetitia Casta: a glimpse of a Notorious model's life

Jul 20, 2008 by FN's Chrissy Icamina

notorious.jpgThe blue-eyed, brown-haired French supermodel was discovered when she was only 15, which marked the beginning of a very prolific career in the fashion industry. Read: a whopping 100-plus cover appearances in magazines all over the world, including Elle and Vogue.

Aside from editorial appearances, she also was visible in the advertising industry, being picked to come out in various ad campaigns as well as being chosen to be the face of a couple of established beauty and skincare lines such L'Oreal, Dior, and Chanel. How's that for a supermodel CV? But that's not all!

Her striking face and supermodel figure has also graced Victoria's Secret catalogs, Sports Illustrated, and the elite Pirelli Calendar. Now 30 years old and with two children (but she sure doesn't look it!), her latest endeavor fits her to a tee.

"[Laetitia's] deep sultriness, daring and powerful femininity make her the perfect face for this exciting fragrance," says Guillaume de Lesquen, President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances International, "Laetitia is Notorious."

By "Notorious," de Lesquen is referring to Ralph Lauren's new women's fragrance. And according to the company, Laetitia was chosen because she truly embodies the Notorious woman – sexy, strong, daring, and captivating.

Notorious by Ralph Lauren will be launched in the Philippines in September 2008.
